Welcome to Kiawah Island

An oasis of untouched natural beauty and renowned hospitality for those seeking a retreat into adventure and luxury. Enjoy our perfectly preserved maritime forests, sand dunes, and marshes where turtles, whitetail deer, and seabirds abound. Please help us protect the island by observing the regulations below.

Beach Regulations - The following are prohibited

Glass
Plastic bags
Plastic straws
Styrofoam
Metal shovels. Please fill in holes before leaving the beach.
Walking in the dunes
Disturbing the wildlife
Wading/swimming in Capt. Sam’s Inlet. (western end)
Overnight storage of beach equipment (tents, chairs, etc.).
Unleashed dogs in leash zones. Pets are allowed on the beach year-round except in designated critical habitat areas. Visit the map for information on leash restrictions and the designated year-round off-leash area.

Other Regulations

No open fires or fireworks.
Never feed, harass or approach alligators.
Noise ordinance in effect from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily.
No clothing or towels to be draped over deck railings.
No overnight parking on the street and no more than two vehicles are permitted in driveways.
Bicycles and beach gear must be stored in an enclosure.
No grills in multi-family units.
Dogs must be leashed at all times when they are outside unless they are in an enclosed area. Owners are responsible to pick up after their pets. See the dog leash regulations information above.

Ordinances are enforced by Beach Patrol (843-518-2880) and/or Town Code Enforcement (848-768-9166) officers who are authorized to ticket and fine offenders.
